New COVID Restrictions – 17 December 2021
Commencing 17 December 2021, the Queensland Government is introducing new COVID Restrictions.
One of these restrictions is that people must be fully vaccinated (two COVID shots) to enter many venues in Queensland. This includes entering our club, including the club house (inside and outside) and playing bowls.
As of 17 December, if you are not fully vaccinated, we kindly request you to not visit the club until you are fully vaccinated.
We know this may not sit well with some members, and we ask you to realise that this is not the club doing this, but a Queensland Government mandate. Please show respect to the staff at the club and to the Board and Bowling Arms should you be asked to show proof of your vaccination.
You are now able to link your COVID-19 Digital Vaccination Certificate to your Qld Check in App. This will be the easiest way to show you are fully vaccinated. If you cannot do this, you will need to have some other proof of your vaccination to be able to show the club if you are asked.
The staff at the club will not be able to assist members with linking your Digital Certificate to your Qld Check in App or to help with obtaining other evidence of your vaccination. We suggest you obtain the help of a family member or friend if you need assistance to set everything up.
Please see the Queensland Government website for more information.
Renewal of Memberships for 2022
The club would really appreciate it if members could renew your membership by 15 December. The membership fee is just $130 and you can pay by cash or credit card to the bar staff. Please try and pay when the Bar is not busy straight after bowls has finished.
You can also pay online, please just include your name and membership number as a reference. Details on the Renewal form.
Renewal forms for all members are available from the office or the bar if you do not have yours yet.
Roast Raffles on Roast Night
This Wednesday, we will be raffling 7 delicious Lamb Roasts. Come on down to the club and enjoy a delicious roast meal and buy a ticket to be in with a chance to win a delicious lamb roast.
Thanks so much to everyone who came down on Sunday to help with the Working Bee. The keg room, store room and kitchen look fantastic, and the old freezer is out and the new one is in. Well done Lloydy and Mal for organising the Working Bee.
Christmas Classic Pairs – Postponed
The Christmas Classic Pairs competition, planned for 27 November, has been postponed. A new date (and name) will be found for sometime in early 2022. Apologies to all those people who had put their name on the sheet to play.
40th Anniversary Celebrations
Please put Saturday 9 April and Sunday 10 April 2022 in your calendars. Over this weekend we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Pelican Waters Bowls Club / Golden Beach Bowls Club.
Club Social Media
Check us out on Facebook and Instagram. Just search for “PelicanBowls” in both to be able to follow us.
It is important for everyone to stay hydrated when playing bowls. Please drink plenty of water before you hop on the greens and drink plenty of water while playing. Also be sure to follow other measures to reduce the effects of the sun. Check the Club website for suggestions and more information. https://pelicanbowls.com/bowls/
The Club would like to remind all members of the need to check in every time you come to the club using the Queensland Government’s Qld Check-In App. The Club would also like to remind everyone to follow the current restrictions.
We please also request:
– you maintain social distancing inside and outside the club
– you wash and sanitise your hands regularly
– you minimise physical contact
– you avoid touching other people’s bowls and other equipment
– you follow the other COVID Guidelines and Safe Practices as communicated by the Queensland Government.
Good bowling to everyone and have a great week.
